A Maryland bridge, also known as a “resin-bonded bridge,” has a wide range of applications and simplifies many cases that were traditionally more challenging.
Without the need to remove healthy teeth, it utilizes a single piece of zirconia or a tooth crown with a metal framework. The bridge is fixed in place using a special adhesive to the teeth in front of and behind the missing tooth. The advantage is that there is no need to alter or damage healthy teeth. The drawback is that it offers less support and biting force.
